Percussive Productions

As a way to combine my passion for performing arts with design, and to educate young performers, I become Program Coordinator for regional percussion ensembles. In this role, I was responsible for the design and production of an indoor percussive arts program, which included set design, costume design, music storyboard, visual effects, and instruction.

Pulse

Blackstone-Millville Regional High School Indoor Percussion Ensemble 2016

The 2016 production with Blackstone-Millville Regional focused on the heart with a show entitled Pulse. A monochromatic green palette for the props, floor, and customes, was inspired by EKG monitors. General effects like flat lines, defribrillator pumps and more led to heart-pounding and heart-stopping ending.

On a Journey

Blackstone-Millville Regional High School Indoor Percussion Ensemble 2015

The 2015 production with Blackstone-Millville Regional was a show inspired by the journey we're all on together. The journey of a season of rehearsals and performances, the journey of our school-age years, and the journey of life overall. With musical selections Ghost Train by Eric Whitacre and Short Ride in a Fast Machine by John Adams, the production uses visual and musical effects related to trains to convey the storyline.

Clockworks

Blackstone-Millville Regional High School Indoor Percussion Ensemble 2014

The 2014 production with Blackstone-Millville Regional, a show entitled Clockworks explores the sounds of clocks — ticking, chiming, alarms — through time-themed music selections and the visuals of a clock — hands, gears, mechanics.

Code

King Philip Indoor Percussion Ensemble 2012

The 2012 production of the King Philip Indoor Percussion Ensemble entitled Code explores the musical and visual cues of morse code. This method of transmitting information is a multisensory experience - from the beeping sounds to the representation by dots and dashes - and was a concept that could be implemented in every aspect of the production. Varying textures of morse code letters and numbers create the setting for the show. Costume designs were inspired by military uniforms and incorporated dots and dashes into tailored details. Voice overs from a 1940s instructional video were added throughout the show for informational purposes, general effect, and comic relief. A rhythmic selection of music including Day by Jaga Jazzist, Flite by The Cinematic Orchestra, and XYG by Hiromi Uehara provide a contemporary jazz tone to the production.
